Develop your skills and understanding in group facilitation and training with this online dynamic 6 day course. Taking place over 3 months - Bev Gibbons, our trainer, has developed a course with plenty of space for play, experiential learning and group process.

Course information
The programme consists of three modules (1 per weekend) that integrate theory with experiential learning, group discussions, reflective activities and hands-on opportunities to practice group facilitation. ​
The certificate course has been developed to actively support professionals in the helping fields; therapists, practitioners, coaches, mental health works, HR managers etc. who currently facilitate or are interested in facilitating groups - from organisation teams to therapeutic settings.​

Course Content
Module 1: A Secure Base - Forming, making contact and anchoring
This module includes an overview of group dynamics and contracting, exploring key theories of group development and the various types of groups, along with important considerations and contracts. We examine the context and settings in which different groups operate, highlighting the norms and roles that naturally emerge. Additionally, we delve into effective facilitation and leadership approaches, equipping you with the skills to navigate and lead groups successfully.​

Module 2: Exploration, negotiation, participation - testing boundaries and finding the edges
In this module, we explore the developmental process of groups and the leadership behaviours rerquried at each stage, while examining group dynamics and processes in depth. We address the benefits and challenges of online group work compared to in-person settings, highlighting the unique considerations for each. We will reflect on our own evolving identity as group leaders and facilitators, look at ethics within the group work setting and enhance skills through hands-on practice.

Module 3: Integration and Co-creating - Clarifying your own style and philosophy
We delve deeper into group dynamics and processes, focusing on the interplay between individuation, autonomy and interdependence - exploring how these elements can both destabilise and strengthen group development.
We will further develop skills in practice while reflecting on and refining our unique styles. We will anchor learning through reflection and critique, and addressing the important themes of endings and closure in group work.
Assessment
Assessment is by observation from the tutor throughout the course. Those attending all three weekends and participating in skills practice will be awarded the Northside Training Certificate in Working with Groups
Learning Outcomes
You will receive a Certificate in Working with Groups qualification and certificate for 36 hours of CPD.

By the end of the course you will:

Course Fees
The fees for the course are £630. Reserve your place with a non-refundable deposit of £200 with the balance paid before the start of the course.

About the trainer
Bev Gibbons is a Teaching and Supervising Transactional Analyst in the field of psychotherapy. She has an MA in TA Psychotherapy and a BA Hons in Integrative Counselling. Bev works in North Yorkshire UK as a trainer, clinical supervisor and psychotherapist with individuals, groups and organisations. She has many years' experience leading teams, running training groups, process groups, therapy group and supervision groups.

The Co-creative TA principles of present-centred relating, commitment to being we (we-ness) and shared responsibility lie at the heart of Bev's work and way of being. Bev is the current EATA delegate for the UK and the CTA site supervisor or UK oral exams. She is also a member of the UKATA Training and Accrediation Standards Committee.
