Course Information
Workshop information
How are you influencing the environments you live and work in—and how are they influencing you in return? What mark is the world leaving on you, and what impact are you making on it?

This reflective, practice-focused workshop invites leaders of learning from all contexts—education, community, business, and beyond—to pause and explore these powerful questions. Through inquiry and collaborative dialogue, you'll be supported to uncover the values, beliefs, and experiences that shape your professional identity.

The workshop is for educators, supervisors, leaders of learning, psychotherapists, counsellors, organizational consultants and is:
-
Relevant for anyone working with the complexity of human relating and growth
-
Applicable for one to one work or educational group contexts and organizational systems

Whether you're seeking alignment, renewal, or deeper connection with your work, this workshop offers space to reflect, connect, and move forward with clarity.
Workshop Content
Through discussion, exploratory exercises, and shared inquiry, you’ll begin to clarify your philosophy of practice—not as an abstract framework, but as a living, embodied guide to how you act in the world.
Drawing on radical ideas from Claude Steiner and others, we will explore:
-
The political and relational dimensions of autonomy
-
The tension between autonomy and homonomy—and the shadow of each
-
What it means to lead with integrity and accountability
-
Power as a lived, phenomenological experience
-
Leadership in professional roles within organisations and systems
-
Styles of leadership, theories of leadership, and how leadership can meet and shape culture.

Teaching methods are dynamic and co-creative and are adapted to the group and material covered any will include: large and small group discussions, didactic teaching, critique of theories and experiential work.
With a limited number of places (max 16), each participant has the opportunity to give plenty of space for individual reflection, discussion, and feedback.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course you will:
-
Crystallise your personal philosophy of practice—not as an abstract idea, but as a grounded, living guide to how you lead, teach, create, or collaborate.
-
Have a clearer understanding of your practice in context, but also with strategies to bring your philosophy to life through purposeful action.
-
Clarify your professional identity, role, and presence in their professional practice and context
-
Deepen attunement to environmental and cultural influences on role and identity
-
Identify and develop leadership skills that are directly applicable to your own context, building an understanding of leadership that aligns with your situation and practice.

Luca
Counsellor and Clinical Supervisor
Luca is a counsellor and supervisor with 12–15 years in practice, well-established in private practice and supervision.
He feels competent and grounded in his clinical skills, but notice a creeping sense of routine — that therapy and supervision can sometimes feel like a technical activity rather than a living dialogue. He is hungry for intellectual and reflective nourishment, but wary of overly abstract philosophy that feels disconnected from the practice room.
How does the course benefit him
-
A chance to re-root his practice in deeper philosophical traditions, reconnecting with the “why” as much as the “how.”
-
A framework for articulating his therapeutic stance more clearly to clients, colleagues, and supervisees.
-
A renewed sense of curiosity and purpose in his day-to-day work, breaking out of habits and assumptions.
-
A supportive group context to explore theory in action, not just in theory.
Elena
Lecturer and Trainer
Elena is a psychotherapy lecturer, counselling tutor, or clinical educator responsible for training new practitioners.
They’re highly experienced in teaching theory and technique, but often feel that students are hungry for a deeper “why” behind their methods. They themselves are seeking ways to keep teaching alive and relevant, especially in a time where therapy is pulled between professionalisation, regulation, and human-centred values.
How does the course benefit her
-
Richer philosophical grounding to weave into teaching, helping students see therapy as more than just a set of tools.
-
Fresh perspectives for bridging classroom learning with real-world context and ethical complexity.
-
A reflective space to explore her own stance as an educator — and how it shapes the way they train others.
-
A community of peers to cross-pollinate ideas between practice, supervision, and education.

Coach and Director
Alex is a coach working within an organisation. They have a background in therapy, coaching and leadership development.
They’re skilled at facilitating change in teams and systems, but sometimes feel their work risks becoming overly solution-focused or driven by the organisation's agendas. They want to reconnect with the deeper human and ethical questions at the heart of change processes.
What they can gain from the course:
-
A philosophical lens for understanding their organisation as a living system, not just a structure, economic base or needing to deal with issues before they become major problems.
-
Tools for naming and exploring the tensions between individual, relational, and societal contexts in the organisation's life.
-
Renewed clarity in articulating their role and stance when working with power, values, and culture.
-
Inspiration from dialogue with practitioners in other areas (therapy, education, supervision) that enriches their understanding.
