About the event
Safeguarding is about noticing, speaking out, having conversations and having the confidence to act if needed.
The more we talk openly, with curiosity and courage about safeguarding, the better equipped we will be to make well-informed, good decisions confidently and potently.
This training day will focus on your relationship with safeguarding – safeguarding works well when practitioners feel comfortable with making decisions, and don’t make these in isolation.
We will take time to explore what safeguarding evokes in you, how you respond to safeguarding issues and ethical dilemmas, and what sense you make of your responses. This will ground you in Adult functioning in relation to safeguarding decision-making.
Course content
We will explore together:
• What exactly is safeguarding?
• Safeguarding and me, in my role as counsellor/psychotherapist
• The ethics of safeguarding
• Barriers to safeguarding
• Key points in relation to the interface between the requirements of safeguarding procedure and the role of the therapist.
• Case study work in small groups will bring all of your learning to life.
